    摘要: A case of colchicine-induced rhabdomyolysis is reported. The 72-year-old man was hospitalized because of poor appetite, fatigue, myalgia, and leg weakness, shortly after starting treatment with colchicine for S months. Laboratory results revealed serum creatine kinase: 3627 IU/L, creatinine: 2.3 mg/dL, myoglobin: 1160.5 ng/mL (reference range: male: 17.4-105.7 ng/mL, female: 14.3-65.8 ng/mL) and urine myoglobin: 1689.6 ng/mL (reference range＜11.5 ng/mL). Polyphasic, fibrillation potential, positive sharp wave were noted on electromyography (EMG). A decrease in amplitude was noted in motor and sensory nerves on nerve conduction (NCV). EMG and NCV confirmed colchicine-induced rhabdomyolysis in our patient. Colchicine-induced rhabdomyolysis is a rare complication, and the postulated mechanisms and risk factors for this severe complication are discussed.
