    Title: Service development in community pharmacies in Taiwan

    Abstract: Facing the changes in the medical environment, community pharmacies sought breakthroughs and developed new services to survive in the changing environment. This research explored the service development for community pharmacies. This research was divided into two phases. The first phase was the qualitative study, which collected qualitative data through interviews. In the second phase, quantitative study was designed based on the results of the interviews in the first phase, and sampling was conducted using the questionnaires. The results of qualitative study are as follows: The service developments of community pharmacies can enhance pharmacy professional services, public health cooperation, and the redesign of the service venue. The results of quantitative study are as follows: Averagely over 64% of the respondents agreed that the service development should enhance the pharmacy professional services and provide flexible and multivariate services; 95% of the respondents were able to accept the concept of self-care management systems proposed by community pharmacies. In the respondents’ opinions on the service venue redesign of community pharmacies, 53% and 42% of the respondents believed that it is very important and important respectively.
